Twestival Toronto raises a glass (of water). Cheers!

Tonight we’re heading off Tryst Nightclub for the second edition of TwestivalTO. Never heard of it? In a nutshell, March 25th, around the world, has become international Twestival day. Combinging social media for social good, hundreds of cities are throwing these special events to help raise money and awareness for a very cool organization – Concern Worldwide. In case you’re not inclined to click the link, the awesome folks @Concern have spent the last 40 years working to reduce suffering and end extreme poverty through relief and development. If you want more information, the folks over at Mashable wrote a great article that explains a lot more about the movement’s history and the causes it supports.

This is year 2 for Toronto and it’s already shaping up to be a memorable one. At last year’s Twestival, the Toronto social media community raised an astonishing $16,000 and this year’s tally is already surpassed $15,000 with the big night still to come.

There’s nothing more rewarding than coming together with a community of like minded individuals to shine some light on an amazing cause and that is why this year Simon Pure is a sponsor. We’re really looking forward to putting some faces to names, and extremely proud to do our part in supporting this great cause.

It also happens to be the the pseudo birthday celebration for our very own Amanda-Lynne Ballard (rumour has it she’s bringing her own cupcakes).

If you’re coming tomorrow please stop by and say hi and if not, you can follow our evening @_SimonPure, @A_Mandolin, @JoshDyan and @angrylush.

See you at Twestival!

AMMENDUM:  TwestivalTO was covered in the Washington Post, The Huffington Post, CNN, GlobalTV and raised over $20,000 for Concern Worldwide by the end of the night.
