My name is Amanda Lynne and I am the new blog queen here at Simon Pure. That’s not to say that we won’t be featuring the writing styles of some of our favourite people, you’ll just be hearing from me more than most. I’ve written a couple of posts already and am super excited to be doing this on a more frequent basis. So what exactly is it that I do… with a long history in a little bit of everything, I’m a new age girl Friday: Social media junkie. Events coordinator. Photographer. Foodie. I really have more passions than a 24-hour day can allow. I’ve settled on the term “resident arts and tech nerd” – when nerd is synonymous with passion, it’s not hard to see where my loves lay.
A forerunner for the social media movement within the arts and not for profit sector of Toronto and Canada you may know me as the voice of last year’s 2009 Fringe of Toronto Theatre festival (#FringeTO). On a national level, I am one of three Ontario artists that make up a communications strategy committee for Theatre Ontario.
Twitter has totally changed my life. It afforded me the opportunity to go international as a designer, recently transforming eight rolls of gaffers tape, into a 13lbs dress and showing it off at the US Theatre Convention (USITT) and my camera backstage at Cirque du Soleil’s KA at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.
I like to code. (HTML, CSS, js).
I think in pictures.
I am a cook, heavily promoting a healthy lifestyle with whole food and the raw food movement.
I have been a promo model for two national street promotions agencies, a publicist for the theatre arts community and so much more.
How does this all translate to the work that I do? My strategic work combines all my experiences and helps provide a unique perspective at engagement, community relations and injects it with a high level of creative pizzazz.
After years of the freelance lifestyle, I am beyond excited to find myself a home within the digital walls of Simon Pure and to be a part of the fantastic team here. Enough about me, I want to hear about you! Send me a message, link or let me know what you are up to.
